Family Fun Night will include multiple activities for families of all ages! The Kiddie Parade will be held from 6:30 PM - 7:00 PM and all activities will be paused during this time to enjoy the Kiddie Parade. This event is FREE to all families and hosted by our Ankeny Young Professionals!

Our theme for 2026 is "Jingle In July" during the Ankeny Chamber SummerFest Grand Parade on Saturday, July 11, 2026, launching at 9 AM. Whether you are a spectator or want to participate in the parade, we are excited to bring a parade to our Ankeny community in 2026! Come out to celebrate with the community.

Due to Construction, the route will be shortened for 2026. The 1.9 mile route will start at Southview Middle School on SW Cherry St., travel North to cross 1st Street and continue on NW Ash Dr. Travel North on NW Ash Dr. and turn into the Tennis Court drive way just S. of NW Wagner Blvd.

To Register, each entry needs to provide proof of insurance certificate (Click for Insurance Requirements) and complete registration by the deadline of Tuesday, July 7th at end-of-day. No late registrations are accepted. Parade Ticket sent by email.

Judging occurs along the route and in the staging lot prior to launch. All decorated entries will be released sooner in the line-up. The winners will be announced on our website and will be awarded their trophies on stage at Ankeny Chamber SummerFest on Sunday, July 12th, around 4:45 PM.

No Driver's meeting is necessary this year. Rules have changed to allow underhand throwing of candy from a float or moving vehicle. Please read the provided links for details on insurance, rules, route map, and staging.

The Ankeny Chamber SummerFest Lip Sync Contest is a fun, high-energy event where individuals or groups perform popular songs by miming the lyrics while acting out the performance. Instead of singing live, participants focus on entertainment, choreography, costumes, and stage presence to impress the audience and judges.

Fee: $15 per act

Join us for a one-of-a-kind workout experience inside the ARL Kruidenier Second Chance Ranch! Enjoy an energizing yoga class led by a professional instructor, followed by a cool down while you mingle with the horses, chickens, and other rescue barn animals in our care. The Iowa Gold Stars and the Ankeny Honey Bees will be hosting the 2026 National Granny Basketball Tournament at the Prairie Trail Sports Complex in Ankeny, July 17-19, 2026. We respectfully ask you to consider becoming a sponsor of this distinctive tournament event.

We are extremely proud for the league’s national tournament to return to Iowa, especially due to the rich history of girls’ basketball in Iowa and the recent attention on the State of Iowa in the Caitlin Clark era!

Fun fact: High school girls’ basketball began in Iowa in 1898. Dubuque was among the early adopters of girls’ basketball in the state, along with other Iowa towns like Ottumwa, Muscatine, and more. Girls’ high school basketball saw significant growth inthe early 1900s, with the first official state tournament held in 1920.

Our national tournament will attract approximately 30 teams to compete in old-fashioned, six-on-six women’s basketball, similar to the rules and style of play a century ago. We anticipate more than 350 Granny Basketball players and nearly 100 volunteers will be coming from Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, Arizona, California, Ontario (Toronto) and across the state of Iowa. We also anticipate there will be strong interest from the media and public in the metro area, as well as in the hometowns of many of our players.

The Granny Basketball League, Inc. is an Iowa-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2005. It was formed to provide fun, competitive exercise for women “of a certain age” (50+), as well as to serve as an avenue for charitable giving. The league now has grown to 54 teams in 11 states and 1 team in Toronto, Canada.
